Our Thoughts

Trailer Length

Trailers over 20ft are best pulled by a truck, or at least an SUV with a truck frame. Most SUVs have a car-style frame and lack the weight and rigidity to control a larger trailer.

Cargo Capacity

The cargo capacity on this trailer is acceptable for couples and some families, but you'll have to limit what you bring with.

Tow Vehicle Recommendations

Smaller trucks like the Ford Ranger or Chevy Colorado can tow shorter trailers, but make sure the the payload capacity is sufficient.

You may need to move up to a half ton truck like the Ford F-150 or Ram 1500.

Look inside the door frame for a sticker that lists the payload capacity. The vehicle needs to be able to carry the tongue weight of the trailer, passengers, and gear. For a driver, passenger, and gear, that means about 1,075 pounds.

Estimated Minimum Payload
Individual855 lbs
Couple1,075 lbs
Family1,435 lbs

When buying a trailer, you'll need a few basics. Usually, the power cord is included, but you'll need to purchase hoses for water and sewer. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Purchasing items such as those below through the links on this page help to support this site.

Zero-G Drinking Water Hose

At 50ft, this hose is long enough for almost every campsite, while being soft and flexible enough to pack away easily.

RhinoFlex Sewer Hose

This hose is a good balance of cost and durability. This is the most common hose I see at any given campground.

TST 507 TPMS

Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems offer you piece of mind while towing. TST units show both pressure and temperature, alerting you to tire problems before they become a major situations.

Lithium-capable Battery Charger

Lithium batteries need higher current to fully charge. Lots of similar units are just built for lead acid batteries.
